Overview of Microbial Therapeutic Enzymes

چکیده
The enzyme technology is applied to pharmaceutical research, development and manufacturing and is a growing field. Therapeutic enzymes have been in use for around at least 40 years. For example, a therapeutic enzyme was described as a part of replacement therapies for genetic deficiencies in 1960s by de Duve (Vellard, 2013). Attempts are made to capitalize on the advantages of enzymes as drugs at every pharmaceutical research center in the world (Gonzalez and Isaacs, 1999). Regular consumption of enzymes and enzyme-rich foods contributes to vibrant health, prevention of disease, and antiageing process. Each cell in our body needs enzymes for its biochemical functions, and a deficiency of these enzymes will accelerate the aging process. Some of the important functions of enzymes are regulation of the growth of the body from a single cell to a mature organism, conversion of food to energy to fulfill the body s needs, and break down or buildup of certain substances within the cell (Kaur and Sekhon, 2012). A quick overview on some aspects of endocrinological and therapeutic effects of Berberis vulgaris L.
Many herbaceous plants contain compounds that have biological effects in addition to their medicinal properties. They have compounds with numerous properties, including hypo lipidemic, hypoglycemic, antioxidant, and hepato protective ones, which have been analyzed at different levels. One of these plants, with the scientific name of Berberis vulgaris, is barberry. The most important compounds i...
متن کاملAn Overview of Asparaginase Enzyme Features: An Anticancer Enzyme with High Potency
Introduction: One of the important findings in the pharmaceutical and medical industry is the use of the asparaginazase enzyme as an anticancer drug. The asparaginase enzyme, hydrolyzing the amino acid of asparagine, reduces this amino acid in the blood and causes the death of cancer cells. Today, the enzyme is used to treat various types of leukemia, particularly acute lymphoblastic leukemia, ...
متن کاملResponse of Broiler Chickens to Triticale-Based Diets Supplemented with Microbial Enzymes (2. Microbial Profiles and Activities)
The microbial profiles and activities of microbes in the digesta from chickens on diets containing Bogong or Canobolas with or without inclusion of microbial enzymes were investigated on the 384 day-old male Ross 308 broiler chickens. There was a reduction in population of C. perfringens (P < 0.01) of the ileum as a result of interaction between cultivar and xylanase. On the other hand, in the ...
متن کاملEffect of Lactobacillus plantarum and Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus on growth performance, gut microbial flora and digestive enzymes activities in Tor grypus (Karaman, 1971)
In this study, two main probiotics (Lactobacillus plantarum and Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp < em>. bulgaricus) were isolated from the intestine of Tor grypus and their effects on growth performance, gut microbial flora and digestive enzymes activities (i.e., α-amylase, lipase, trypsin, chymotrypsin, and alkaline phosphatase) of Tor grypus (Karaman, 1971) were determined. Juveniles of T. gry...
متن کاملEnzymic analysis for rapid detection of microbial infection in human body fluids: an overview.
One possible means of rapidly detecting microorganisms in patients with suspected infectious diseases is the direct measurement of microbial enzymes in body fluids. This technique is based on the fact that bacterial, fungal, and viral organisms possess enzymes that are not produced by mammalian cells and are thus not found in uninfected human body fluids. Detection of one of these microbial enz...
